Between Fethiye and Antalya, the Taurus mountains drop almost straight into the sea. The result is a coast of small harbours, clear water and ancient Lycian tombs cut into the cliffs above the towns.

This stretch is often called the Turquoise Coast. Kaş is a compact harbour town with a strong diving and sailing culture; Kalkan, a short drive west, is quieter and terraced above its bay; Ölüdeniz's sheltered lagoon is one of the most photographed beaches in the country. The Lycian Way, a long-distance walking route, threads through the hills behind them.

Our full Riviera guides are in preparation. The notes below are a starting point.

Getting in
Dalaman (DLM) and Antalya (AYT) airports serve this coast. Kaş is roughly midway between them by road.
When to go
Late May to June and September to October offer warm sea temperatures without the peak-summer heat and crowds.

Practical details change. Check official sources for transport, opening hours and entry rules before you travel.
